Frequency-swept pulses for ultrafast spatially encoded NMR

چکیده
Ultrafast NMR based on spatial encoding yields arbitrary multidimensional spectra in a single scan. The dramatic acceleration afforded by parallelisation makes it possible to capture transient species and processes, has notably been applied the monitoring of reactions analysis hyperpolarised species. At heart ultrafast lies spatially sequential manipulation nuclear spins. This is virtually always achieved combining swept radio-frequency pulse with magnetic field gradient pulse. dynamics spins during these sequence elements key understand design experiments, can often be described surprisingly simple models. article describes relaxation, chemical shift diffusion common framework discusses directions for future developments.

Adiabatic frequency conversion of ultrafast pulses
A new method for efficient, broadband sum and difference frequency generation of ultrafast pulses is demonstrated. The principles of the method follow from an analogy between frequency conversion and coherent optical excitation of a two-level system. For conversion of ultrafast pulses, the concepts of adiabatic conversion are developed further in order to account for dispersion and group veloci...
متن کاملSpatially Encoded Pseudo-pure States for NMR Quantum Information Processing
Quantum information processing by liquid-state NMR spectroscopy uses pseudo-pure states to mimic the evolution and observations on true pure states. A new method of preparing pseudo-pure states is described, which involves the selection of spatially labeled states of an ancilla spin with which the spin system of interest is correlated. This permits a general procedure to be given for the prepar...

Garwood Center for Magnetic Resonance Research and Department of Radiology, University of Minnesota, Minneapolis, MN, United States, A.I.Virtanen Institute for Molecular Sciences, University of Kuopio, Kuopio, Finland Introduction: Frequency-modulated (FM) pulses, including adiabatic full-passage (AFP) pulses, are sometimes preferred for selective refocusing in spin-e...
متن کاملFrequency-swept time-reversed ultrasonically encoded optical focusing.
A technique to rapidly scan an optical focus inside a turbid medium is attractive for various biomedical applications. Time-reversed ultrasonically encoded (TRUE) optical focusing has previously demonstrated light focusing into a turbid medium, using both analog and digital devices. Although the digital implementation can generate a focus with high energy, it has been time consuming to scan the...
متن کاملSpatially Selective Nmr with Broad-band Radiofrequency Pulses
The problem of non-invasive spatial localization in NMR is approached by constructing a spatially selective composite pulse sequence and incorporating it into a recently developed difference scheme. The composite sequence described, which requires nine phase-shifted n pulses, functions only over a narrow range of radio-frequency (rf) field strengths while remaining effective over a broad range ...
